Healthcare Professionals for Assisted Dying Choice (HPAD Choice) is a national list of healthcare professionals who support voluntary assisted dying (VAD) laws and is intended to publicly demonstrate that significant numbers of those who work in medical and healthcare fields support this compassionate choice for people seeking control over the end of their lives.

This Privacy Policy sets out our commitment to protecting the privacy of your personal information that we collect from you via the HPAD Choice website.

This Privacy Policy contains information about how we collect and handle personal information. It also contains information on what to do if you have questions, concerns or complaints.

Collection and use of personal information

We only collect personal information from people who add their names to HPAD Choice using our on-line sign-up form. By completing our on-line sign-up form you consent to the collection and use of your personal information as described in this policy. 

The information we collect may include your name, email address, phone number, professional qualifications and job description. Some of these details will be displayed publicly on the HPAD Choice website however your name will be withheld if you have opted to remain anonymous.  

Your personal information will be used by us in connection with HPAD Choice and to help us engage with you. We may also use your information to contact you in relation to the campaign for VAD laws and to keep you up to date with our initiatives that we think may interest you. For example, we may ask if you are prepared to write to members of parliament or to participate in the VAD campaign in other ways.   

You will have the opportunity to unsubscribe from our communications at any time. You can ask to have your personal information updated or removed from our records and/or the HPAD Choice website at any time. 

How we hold personal information

HPAD Choice takes the security and confidentiality of your personal information seriously and actively seeks to ensure that all personal information we collect is protected from misuse, interference and loss and from unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

The information you provide via the on-line sign-up form is recorded in a database which is not part of the HPAD Choice website.

Disclosure of personal information

We will not share or sell your personal information with unaffiliated third parties or use it for any purpose other than in connection with HPAD Choice and the technical administration of the website and database, without your consent.

Where personal information is held that is no longer needed, we will take reasonable steps to ensure the information is destroyed or de-identified.

We may disclose your information to governmental agencies or entities, regulatory authorities, or other persons if we are legally compelled to do so.

Technical matters and the Internet

Use of the HPAD Choice website may be monitored, tracked and recorded. Anyone using the website expressly consents to such monitoring, tracking or recording.

When you visit the HPAD Choice website, our web server may automatically record your IP address, the website from which you visit us, the type of browser software used, the web pages you actually visit including date and duration.

The HPAD Choice website contains links to the websites of third parties. If you access those third party websites they may collect information about you.
